Course Description:

This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of Biostatistics for clinical research. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including Tables, Listings, and Figures (TLFs), Sample Size/Power calculations, Efficacy signal detect, Bayesian Statistics, Dose escalation/finding, Statistical analysis plan writing, MMRM, Controlling FWER and FDR for multiple hypothesis testing, SDTM/ADaM data sets, Development of a clinical R Shiny Application, and Biostatistics Interview Questions/Preparation.

The course will begin by covering TLFs, including adverse events (by System Organ Class and Preferred Term), clinical laboratory tables, efficacy tables including Swimlane plots, waterfall plots, and Spider plots for oncology, disposition, demographics, RECIST v1.1 efficacy endpoints, and other common TLFs. The course will also cover Sample Size/Power calculations for continuous, count, binary, and proportional endpoints, time to event endpoints, and group sequential trials.

The course will also provide an overview of Efficacy signal detect, including Simon’s Two Stage and Fleming’s Two Stage Designs, and Bayesian Statistics, including sample size calculation, Bayesian futility and toxicity gating, and Bayesian hierarchical models. The course will then move on to Dose escalation/finding, including 3+3 design, BOIN, MCP, and other common dose escalation/find methods.

In addition, the course will cover Statistical analysis plan writing, MMRM, including common covariance structures, and controlling FWER and FDR for multiple hypothesis testing. The course will also include analyzing simulated data from several real-world clinical trials, SDTM/ADaM data sets, and development of a clinical R Shiny Application.

Finally, the course will provide Biostatistics Interview Questions/Preparation to help students prepare for interviews in the field of clinical research.

Overall, this course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in Biostatistics theory and practice, as well as practical skills and techniques that are relevant to the field of clinical research.
